چکیده

Grape cultivation and wine production has been in practice since 7000 BC ancient China. Today, top producing countries are France, Italy, Spain, including the United States. New York State is third largest state US, with over 28 million gallons produced 2017. Wine pomace, residue from making after pressing could be used for of electricity heat replacing fossil resources. One alternative route anaerobic fermentation residues biogas.
This research investigated cumulative biogas differently prepared red grape pomace. Red pomace was as received, by blending using a laboratory benchtop blender, refined Valley beater apparatus, cooking 2 hours at 98°C. The pH each solution adjusted to 8.50 20% Calcium Hydroxide (Ca(OH)2) solution. 300 g 30 bacteria inoculate filled into 500 ml Erlenmeyer flask that contained magnetic stirrer. experiment have run duplicate, lasted up 170 hours, temperature 39°C ± 2°C.
Untreated had lowest 93 151 ml.
Blended grapes showed 283 243 respectively. Refined generated highest 566 864 ml, followed cooked 365 830 ml. maximum composition without CO2 70% minimum 55%.
Pre-treatment such refining, blending, treatment can increase lead possible lower retention time vessel due faster biomass conversion.

2. Production of Biogas by Anaerobic Digestion

Anaerobic digestion is a natural process in which bacteria convert organic materials into biogas. It occurs in marshes and wetlands, and in the digestive tract of ruminants. The bacteria are also active in landfills where they are the principal process degrading landfilled food wastes and other biomass. Biogas can be collected and used as a potential energy resource. The process occurs in an an...

Biogas Production from Co-digestion of Substrates: A Review

Sustainable development is the projected demand of all nations at present. Only 20 percent of world’s primary energy requirement is met by renewable sources like solar and wind energy, hydropower, biomass, municipal and agri-wastes. Especially energy recovery from municipal and agri – wastes have gained importance due to two – fold reason: i. waste volume reduction, ii. energy recovery. The pre...

A new kinetic model for biogas production from co-digestion by batch mode

Coming out from the growth kinetics, the Gompertz model has been developed and considered as the best one for simulating the biogas production from anaerobic digestion. However, the model has failed to describe the starting point of the process, and no-sense of lag phase constant has been pointed out. Thus, the goal of this study is to develop a new kinetic model of biogas production with meani...
